Hey all!
Yesterday we were on the isle of Skye which is BEAUTIFUl. It was unique because there were mountains but they were really rounded and almost completely bare. They basically looked like big piles of rock with moss growing on them. That was the majority of what we saw for the poast two days as we did a lot of driving. The hostel in Uig was up oin a hill and was very small. Today, we took a ferry from Skye over to the mainland and drove through the gorgeous highlands (my fav. mountains now) to get to the little town that we're in now (Pitlochry - coolest town name ever). We drove past a HUGE castle today. Oh yeah. Yesterday we drove down Loch Ness for a long time. It is really cool. Sadly, we didn't see Nessie :(. I really do believe in her so dont make fun of me.
2morrow we#re off to the Palace of Scone where Scottish kings were crowned then it's off toi edinburgh to see the huge castle there and the crown jewels of scotland. Then we're going to leave scotland for England where we'll be staying our first night INSIDE Hadrians wall (google it).
And we also took care of some business yesterday that you all will here about after our London trip... oh the suspense :)
Ta Ta!
Chris
I agree with you that Pitlochry is a very cool town name. :)
ReplyDeleteI DID google Hadrian's Wall and it looks really cool and like you would enjoy it lots. (How can an old Roman wall built in 122 A.D. not be cool?!)
the isle of Skye makes it sound pretty just because of the name. and then you described it. Wow. :D Oh my goodness, everything sounds so incredible.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. I am not good with suspense...
I am very proud of my self that i know of that wall without even having to google it. :) i just saw the movie King Arthur .
ReplyDeletecool!!! i've always wanted to go to the Isle of Skye and Loch Ness...
ReplyDeleteSuspense...grrrreat...we don't get along...at.all. :P
The big rocks covered in moss definitely made me think of the giants in The Silver Chair... wonder if Lewis got any inspiration from Scotland?

I am a Nessie fan, too. There's allegedly a Nessie sort for thing in Loch Morar, as well, named Morag. Not spotted as much as Nessie, though.

Um, very very jealous of your stay at the Wall. Very. Old stuff, right there, even for Britain. Marks the point where the Romans decided that it was no longer worth their while. "Yeah, we got England! And up there... rocks and people with loud pipes and kilts... eh..." :-)
I am simply filled with suspense as to what that mysterious "business" that you took care of is. But, anyway, it does me a world of good to know that you are having such a diversity of cultural experiences. Truly...to think that you have seen Nessie's home, a castle of stone, and by now have seen the Palace of Scone--all this is just grand.
ReplyDeleteMy best to all of you,
Audrey
