Germany!!!

Gutentag!

So after getting off of the ferry yesterday morning, and headed to the train to Amsterdam. Then, we got our rental car which God provided very nicely. Then, while they were cleaning the car, we walked around the city a bit... It's a pretty city but there is so much sin running rampant. Amsterdam is known for its legal drug and prostitution cultures. Anyway, we headed on out to Hamburg (a 5 hour drive). Then, we met our friends for a homecooked meal and some time catching up before heading to bed. This morning, we spent the day in Hamburg, visiting any of the sights. One of the highlights for me was seeing the church of St. Michel where Brahmes was baptised, C.P.E. Bach was buried and music director, as well as Telemann. Then we climbed up to the top of the church steeple (24 stories) and got a full view of the whole city. Then, we spent a good deal of time in the harbour area before coming home to a good German dinner cooked by our friend Norma. We also had a really good Bratwurst at lunch...

btw, there is a Starbucks at like every corner for all of you coffee junkies....

See you in not too long!

Chris

  1. My dad would love being Hamburg--he would love having Starbucks on every corner, since he is a huge fan of it. :0

  2. Amsterdam is one cool-lookin' city. So sad about the sin patterns there; definitely praying for spiritual revival in Germany.
The postcard made my day, btw. Danke.
(Oh, and you've picked up Brit spelling! This makes me exceedingly happy...)

  3. Yeah I agree with Elizabeth. Praying for spiritual revival in Germany. God has the power to change things, as we've seen so much before.
And again ditto...The postcard made my day :)
Happy you're having so much fun with your friends in Germany :)

  4. I have one question: was C.P.E Bach buried and music director in THAT order? :D

I like that you and Meghan both talked about the food you ate. That is always a highlight for me too.

It is so sad that Amsterdam has so much evidence of human depravity. Apart from that, though, I've heard that it's a really cool place, so I'm glad you got to see some of the pretty parts of the city as well.
